tea for more than two
Recently, the rawhide and antlers of the Lodge were put aside and delicately replaced by china, roses, and Grissom High School senior girls and their mothers.
Serving tea and refreshments were Southwood members Jennifer and Abby Coleman. But what could easily be mistaken for a simple social gathering, turned into a opportunity to host women from our community and offer warm fellowship and hospitality. Mingling among Southwood’s mothers and daughters on our campus were valued members of this community. The Lodge was inundated most of the afternoon with high heeled traffic. It was a salutary and classy way to close the school year!
For the last decade, Southwood’s heart has been for it’s people to be IN the community FOR the community. We adopted this posture because it is the Lord’s pattern with his church. Jesus descended from his throne of authority to serve among his beloved. And this community is getting it! Serving our neighbors can be done with shovels or sugar cubes… it just takes a little creativity.
This is just one of many stories of our congregation in and for the community. Continue to pray that we as a congregation would be known in this valley by our love!
