Lincoln Village Updates & Opportunities
As Summer draws to a close, things are still going hot in Lincoln Village. A quick review some of the items that we were able to accomplish this summer :
• Hosted a number of local groups of teens, as well as teams from TN & TX.
• Purchased another house in the Lincoln Village area.
• Completely gutted & re-floored one of the next properties for renovation.
• 3-week extreme home makeover for a mom & her daughter.
• Assisted The Boy’s Club & KaBoom with a complete overhaul of their playground.
• Assisted Lincoln Elementary in their move to MLK Elementary.
With the transition from Lincoln Elementary to Martin Luther King Elementary this fall, there is a lot to be done in the coming weeks. We now have the privilege of continuing to work with the 150+ Lincoln students & faculty, as well as being introduced to another 300+ students at MLK. We are excited about seeing what the Lord has in store for us as we step into this new arena. So—jump on board!
One of the key areas where we know that we will need additional support is in the area of tutoring students. This has been one of the primary staples of our work for the last 8 years. And, we plan on continuing to make this one of our primary focus points. We need as many tutors as possible. And we need them soon. While tutoring does not actually begin until after Labor Day, we want to be organized & ready when that time comes.
