Keeping Count: Meet the Sullins

Keeping Count: Meet the Sullins

Chip Sullins is not your ordinary church treasurer. When he assumed this role in April, he already had a full plate. What was on his plate? Home improvement. Specifically, kitchen renovation. While Chip usually has a home project going, he has also has been serving those in need of financial counsel through the Diaconate ministry for the past several years. He is quite helpful in determining how to set up a household budget, reduce personal debt and using His gifts to benefit the body of Christ. Chip’s other area of service is helping his wife Michelle teach the one year old Sunday school class.

Chip’s day job is working as a CPA for NASA in the Chief Financial Office. He earned a degree in Accounting from Berry College in Rome, GA where he met Michelle. He earned a Masters from UAH in Management and another Masters from Auburn University in Accountancy. Since Michelle has refused to call him Dr. Sullins, it looks as if his schooling has ended.  If you know Chip, you quickly come to appreciate his dry humor. It is this humor that keeps him trudging through the Sullins latest home improvement project: kitchen renovation. The project came to a halt when Michelle’s work co-chairing Vacation Bible School cranked up. Now that VBS is over, it looks as if Chip will find himself working on painting cabinet doors and tiling backsplashes. His children, Emma (9) and Charlie (5), have his affection but if you ask him about his other child, he will light up. Her name is LuluBelle and pug is her moniker. While all these things occupy Chip’s time, his new role of service does as well. He has been working with the Finance Committee and staff to become even more conscientious stewards of that which is entrusted to them through your offerings each week. We are sure that any offers of cabinet door finishing would be welcome so Chip can mark Kitchen Renovation a closed item.
