The Pervis Mission
Bulgaria has been home to Georgia natives David and Erin Pervis for almost ten years. They both developed a heart for foreign missions before marrying in 1996. David grew up in Georgia and placed his faith in Christ as a child. While working as a chemical engineer after graduating from Auburn University, he participated in evangelism teams in Eastern Europe and sensed God’s call to missionary service there. Erin is came to know the Lord in junior high. She graduated from Duke University with a degree in Middle East studies and later earned a Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language. In 1984 she joined Arab World Ministries and worked among Arab Muslims in England, France, Jordan, and Syria before marrying David. Three years later, the Pervises joined the church-planting team in Sofia, Bulgaria. They assist with the ministries of the church plant in their neighborhood and have established an English program as an avenue for evangelism. David’s responsibilities include directing the English program, teaching and following up contacts. During the summers, he leads evangelistic, week-long summer hikes for students from the English program and for short-term missionaries. They have two children, Clara and Josiah.
The Pervis family requests their Southwood family pray for them as Erin homeschools their daughter Clara and for God to provide many opportunities to talk about the gospel with English students, neighbors and other Bulgarians whom they see during the course of the day. Pray for Pastor Valeri as he preaches and leads the Mladost church and for the congregation to have a heart to reach their neighbors with the gospel. Pray also that God would raise up a group of strong leaders within the congregation.
