  • Be a Companion to a Special Needs Child on Sunday Mornings 17 of 24 Serve Here

    Volunteers will provide companionship for one of our special needs members; Brandon (age 15). Volunteers are not responsible for Brandon's physical needs (taken care of by a trained worker joining our volunteers). This is a very tangible and loving way to serve him and his family on Sunday mornings.

    To be a companion, you must be a Southwood member and successfully complete an application which includes a background check.

    Time Commitment: During the school year (Sep 11, 2011 - May 27, 2012) for one Sunday every other month from either 9:15am - 10:45am (4 more volunteers needed) or 10:45am - 12:05pm (4 more volunteers needed).

  • Greet/Provide Information for Nursery/Children’s Ministry 1 of 10 Serve Here

    During Sunday mornings, greet families and children who participate in nursery, KidsWorship and Children's Sunday School. Greeters also have an informational/directional presence specific to Children's Ministry to help visitors and members alike. In addition, Greeters help ensure the comfort and safety of our our nursery and 2nd floor (PreK-6th.)

    Greeters must be Southwood members who successfully complete an application which includes a background check.

    Time Commitment: Greeters serve each week throughout the school year (Sep 11, 2011 - May 27, 2012) from 9:00 - 10:30am or from 10:30 - 12:10pm.

  • Assist in KidsWorship 36 of 40 Serve Here

    KidsWorship is designed for children who are PreK/K during the sermon portion of the worship services. Those who assist with KidsWorship provide them with loving supervision and facilitation of games and activities.

    To assist in KidsWorship, you must be a Southwood member and successfully complete an application which includes a background check.

    Time Commitment: Sundays, through the school year (Sep 11, 2011 - May 27, 2012) during the sermon portion of the worship service at either the 8:00, 9:30 or 11:00am worship service (only one). Remaining Needs and Time Commitments: * 8:00 service time - 2 adults to serve once a month. * 9:30 service time - 1 adult to serve on a weekly basis. * 11:00 service time - 1 adult to serve once a month.

    Teaching children creatively in one of our large group environments on Sunday mornings.

    Opportunities are available in KidsWorship (for PreK/K during the sermon portion of the worship services), and Sunday School for PreK/K, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade.

    To teach, you must be a Southwood member and successfully complete and application which includes a background check.

    Time Commitment: Sundays, once a month, through the school year (Sep 11, 2011 - May 27, 2012) at both the 9:30 and 11:00am Sunday School hours; exception are KidsWorship in which the teacher teaches at all three KidsWorship venues and 5th/6th grade which continues through the summer. Our current need is for one additional teacher in Ascent (5th/6th grade).

  • Co-Lead a Children’s Small Group 42 of 46 Serve Here

    Small group leaders serve a singular small group of children in which they build relationships, provide continuity, supervision and facilitate application and accountability based on the day's teaching (discussion material provided).

    Opportunities are available in PreK/K, 1st/2nd, 3rd/4th and 5th/6th grade.

    To co-lead a small group, you must be a Southwood member and successfully complete an application which includes a background check.

    Time Commitment: Sundays through the school year (Sep 11, 2011 - May 27, 2012) from either 9:15 - 10:35am or 10:45 - 12:05pm. For 5th/6th grade, it also includes the summer. Remaining Needs and time commitment: * 2 Co-Leaders for Hwy 34 (3rd/4th Graders) at the 11:00 hour to serve on a weekly basis. * 2 Co-Leaders for Ascent (5th/6th Graders) at the 11:00 hour to serve on a weekly basis.
