Jr. High-Life
Wednesdays during the school year, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM
Jr. High-Life is geared towards a Junior High students love language: high energy fun! Jr. High-Life, much like High-Life, is our weekly youth event for Jr. High students, which focuses on ministering to the covenant students of Southwood and reaching out to all the Jr. High students in our area. One of our primary goals in Jr. High-Life is to communicate that following Christ is not a strictly "Sunday Morning" thing, but that Christ invades all areas of our lives whether that be in our homes, schools, sports teams, and beyond. At Jr. High-Life, we spend time eating and hanging out together, playing games, and learning from the Word of God in the hopes that God will transform the lives of our Jr. High students.
Jr. High Connect Hour
Sundays, 11AM- 12 PM
Connect Hour is a time that is meant to be complimentary to the corporate worship service at Southwood. It's a time when students, leaders, and visitors of High-Life Ministries gather over breakfast at the Lodge. This normally consists of a time of fellowship, some teaching and discussion amongst the students and leaders. More and more we long to see this time as a continuation of our worship as we create an environment for discipleship and growth as well as an opportunity for visitors to connect with our members. Connect Hour is a servant to the Sunday morning worship services and small groups.
Small Groups
Different times throughout the school year
Small groups are the center of High-Life ministries and every other program seeks to serve or help strengthen our Small group ministry. Our aim is for every student to be involved in a small group. The small group ministry of High-Life is designed to take away all the programmed elements of the ministry and provide a small community for students to grow in Christ and in fellowship with one another. Small groups are led by one or two adult leaders, and they usually only have five to seven students. Each small group spends time studying the Word of God together and fellowshipping with one another on a weekly basis.
The Fin and Feather Fall Retreat
The Fall Retreat is our retreat for the Jr. High students and leaders in Jr. High- Life. At the Fall Retreat, we have great food, worship, teaching, and wild and crazy games. Students and leaders grow together and connect, and many students get plugged in the ministry at the Fall Retreat. The adult leaders and the Crew work together to lead the Fall Retreat, and to begin to build relationships with the students of Jr. High-Life.
The Edge
Each June, we take rising 7-9th grade students and our leaders from to meet with another 600 students and leaders from churches all over the southeast for 5 days of AWESOMENESS. The week is filled with games, skits, lots of laughter, fun, tournaments, teaching, worship and so much more. The Edge is a place where many middle school students have given their lives to Christ for the first time or have experienced significant growth in their relationship with Jesus.
